Since opening in 2018, owner Cody Smith and his small but capable crew have been serving LaRue, Tyler, and the surrounding East Texas communities with dependable dirt work, pond building, and site preparation services. What began as a local operation with a dump truck and skid steer has grown into a respected, go-to choice for homeowners, builders, and landowners who need reliable work and straightforward service.

Our Story
How Rs & Ls Dirtwork Got Started
When Cody Smith launched Rs & Ls Dirtwork in 2018, he had one goal — to provide East Texas property owners with a reliable alternative to the “cheap, quick, and sloppy” work too often seen in dirt work and site prep. Having seen firsthand the problems caused by poor grading, bad drainage, and rushed work, Cody decided to take a different approach.
With a single dump truck and a skid steer, he started taking on projects around LaRue and Tyler, focusing on precision, proper grading, and customer satisfaction. Word spread quickly. Before long, builders and homeowners began calling not just for new work, but to fix jobs other contractors had botched. Rs & Ls Dirtwork became known as the team that could straighten things out and get the land ready the right way.
Today, with a growing base of loyal clients, access to dozers and excavators for larger projects, and a service area stretching up to 100 miles for pad work and 40 miles for road work, R & L Dirtwork continues to grow while maintaining the same values it started with.
Our Crew & Equipment
Rs & Ls Dirtwork operates with a small crew of two team members alongside Cody, which allows us to keep communication tight and quality high. We personally oversee each step of every project — no handing off work to unreliable subcontractors.
Our equipment lineup includes a dump truck and skid steer for most jobs, and we have easy access to larger equipment like dozers and excavators when needed. This gives us the flexibility to take on projects ranging from small driveways and culvert installations to full site preparations and pond builds.
